Trade Fair eMove360°: Focus on Utility Vehicles in 2017
The international trade fair eMove360º Europe 2016 for the "New Mobility" debuted successfully in October 2016. Organizer MunichExpo will use this momentum and unites all aspects of the New Mobility - electric mobility, connected and autonomous driving as well as materials and design under the brand eMove360º Europe 2017 2. International Trade Fair for Mobility 4.0 - electric - connected - autonomous. Electric mobility and especially electric commercial vehicles will play an important in this development. Trade fair host and Managing Director of MunichExpo Robert Metzger said: "They are a key factor in the transition process from a niche to a mass market. Fleet operators add new vehicles to their fleets because they realize that electric vehicles come with significantly lower total costs of ownerships than fossil vehicles. The currently higher costs of purchase are more than compensated by lower maintenance costs."
Commercial Vehicles as a Trailblazer for the Breakthrough of Electric Mobility
For urban areas they will be indispensable in the medium-term, because more and more local authorities are forced to reduce emissions and will therefore ban vehicles with combustion engines from their streets. Furthermore, research shows that electric vehicles are between 60 and 65 per cent cheaper in running costs, because drivetrains are more efficient than combustion engines, electric power has lower taxes than fuel and the vehicles can get special rates in taxation and road fees. "And this is happening now, while we still have some work to do in battery technology and charging infrastructure", Metzger pointed out. "An increasing demand in utility vehicles can give a push to solve these two crucial issues that the success of electric mobility will largely depend on."
This year"s trade fair has clearly shown this: Commercial vehicle companies like EMOSS from the Netherlands, NISSAN with its award-winning Van eNV200, the DHL subsidiary StreetScooter with the multi-purpose transporter "Work" (winner of the Bavarian State Award for Electric Mobility 2016 in the category "Electric Vehicle"), the Swiss manufacturer Bucher Municipal with an electric road sweeper, emovum from Hamburg with their 3 way discharge skipper or the Hungarian company evopro, that has developed a fully electric, modular structured bus for urban transportation, have shown where EVs can be used comprehensively today.
